Patricia currently serves as a Reading Coordinator for the Center on Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the University of Oregon. In her position, Patricia works with the CTL Research Group on an IES Grant that is studying the effects of enhanced Tier 1 and Tier 2 reading instruction. She works directly with elementary schools and provides professional development and in-classroom coaching support. In addition, Patricia assists the CTL Professional Development Group in the development of reading related content and tools for dissemination. Patricia worked for 7 years as both the Project Coordinator and a Reading Coach on the Oregon Reading First project. She is a former college instruction and response to intervention/special education consultant for the Idaho State Department of Education. In her previous life, she was a special education teacher for 12 years in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. These experiences have helped her appreciate the complexity and challenges of bringing about sustainable change in public education.
